Kinnelhead Wind Farm

RES is exploring the potential for a wind farm, located approximately 6km southwest of Moffat in Dumfries and Galloway.

Kinnelhead would be capable of generating clean, low-cost renewable electricity for almost 119,100 homes¹  each year. In addition, the Kinnelhead Wind Farm proposal is predicted to deliver approximately £4.4 million of inward investment to the local area in the form of direct jobs, wider employment opportunities and use of local services during the development, construction and first year of operation.

If the wind farm is consented, We are committed to a community benefits package that would be worth £5,000 per megawatt² (or equivalent) of installed capacity per annum. Based on the updated layout design. This would equate to £496,000 (index linked) for the local area, every year, which over a 50-year operational lifetime would mean in excess of £24 million for the local area.

We take a tailored approach and work directly with the community to understand how the wind farm could support the local area and help to secure long-term economic, social and environmental benefits. We are pleased to be engaging with Juxta Kirkpatrick and Moffat & District Community Councils to understand local priorities.
